HennaTrendz Bridal Henna Care Instructions
Thank you for choosing Wardah of HennaTrendz as your bridal henna artist. Following are detailed instructions that need to be followed to get the best possible results from your bridal henna.
Requirements:
-A SPACE HEATER/PORTABLE HEATER (MANDATORY)
-1 table -2 chairs
-Brightly lit room
-The room should be warm- (if in a hotel, keep the thermostat high)
-A roll of toilet paper
-A roll of saran wrap
-coconut oil/olive oil/mustard oil
BEFORE HENNA APPLICATION:
-Waxing, shaving, hair removal, manicure and pedicure must be done a day or two before the henna application, not after. If you generally do not remove arm hair, please consider doing it for at least this occasion. I cannot draw neat or fine lines when arm hair, no matter how fine, is present.
-Dress in warm clothes. Henna has cooling properties and brings body temperature down. If your hands and feet start getting cold, they will NOT stain well.
-Any massages with oils and lotions must be avoided prior to henna application. Clean dry skin is optimum for the henna stain to really soak into the skin.
- Spray tans should not be done prior to henna application, If you need to get a spray tan, have it done 3 days after the henna application. Be informed that spray tans can reduce the contrast of the henna stain on the skin.
- If the henna is being done at your location, make sure the room is warm, and brightly lit.
- Wear comfortable clothes you can sleep in, if keeping the henna on overnight.
- Take off contacts before the henna application.
- Make sure you have eaten before you sit down for your bridal henna, since you will have limited use of your hands for the next few hours.
- Use the restroom before you sit down for your bridal henna. - Limit fluid intake on the day of henna application so you do not feel the urge to use the restroom frequently.
-A $10.00 waiting fee for every 10 minutes is applicable, if the artist has arrived and the bride is not ready to start the bridal henna. If in case you are running late, please text the artist 858.366.3374 at least 5 hours before the starting time.
DURING HENNA APPLICATION:
- Bridal henna can take 3-7 hours so make sure you are seated comfortably. A table and 2 chairs are best.
-Please do not move the artist location around from place to place once the application has started. Keep one area dedicated as the bridal henna application station.
- Minimal greetings and hugging guests will ensure the mehndi is applied neatly and at a steady pace. Too many distractions and pauses interfere with the flow of the design and can stretch a 4 hours appointment to 6 hours, along with making the whole process stressful for both parties.
- Try to refrain from cell phone usage and texting during the henna application as the slight movements shift muscles around and affect the neatness of the designs. Assign a family member to handle your texts and calls for you. Enjoy the henna application time as your “ME-Time” to relax. Put on a movie, sit back and enjoy the peaceful time. You may even sneak in a few zzzz’s while the artist does your feet henna.
- Please have a meal PRIOR to the henna application. Eating and drinking during bridal mehndi application causes too much movement and shifting and affects the designs.
- Bridal henna designs and coverage are finalized by email prior to the booking fee. If any changes are made on the day during application, please note that the price will change accordingly, but cannot go below the original quote.
-If you have a photographer coming to capture your bridal henna application, have them come at the last 30 minutes of your session when most of the work is done. I do not advise that the bride stand up and start walking until the henna on the feet is completely dry.
AFTER HENNA APPLICATION:
-Wet henna can smear easily. Do not let anything touch or bump into your bridal henna while it is wet.
- Be prepared to keep your henna on for 10-12 hours or overnight.
- Heat is a friend of henna. Stay WARM throughout the 10-12 hours the henna paste is on, for a deep, rich stain. Henna does not stain cold hands and feet as well as warm skin. Have a portable heater running at the henna station for best results.
- Apply lemon sugar sealant syrup to the dried henna designs to help it stay in place and prevent it from flaking off.
- Rest in front of a heater, fireplace, or raise the temperature of the room to keep it warm… and just stay warm throughout the duration the henna paste is on.
- If going to bed with your henna on, wrap up your hands and arms and feet in lots of toilet paper, then cover with a layer of saran wrap. Keep it like that for the next 8-10 hours or overnight.
- When it is time to take off the henna paste, DO NOT USE WATER. Use olive oil/coconut/mustard oil to scrape off all the henna paste.
- DO NOT PANIC. The initial henna stain will be light and orange… It will slowly darken to a deep reddish-brown over the next 2-3 DAYS.
- Keep your fresh henna stain coated with olive oil or coconut oil, stay warm and avoid water contact with your henna stain for the next 24 hours as much as possible.
- Swimming pool and chlorine will kill your henna stain, so avoid swimming in a pool at all costs after getting your bridal henna done. Please be patient and wait 2-3 days for your bridal henna stain to darken up to its peak color.
